PreTRM Test…. The First-Of-Its-Kind.

Dr. Jill Hechtman joins GDTB to talk about Premature Birth Awareness.

The rate of premature birth is on the rise in the U.S. In fact, 1 in 10 pregnancies will result in a premature birth. Many of these women show no symptoms and have no known risk factors.  Dr. Jill Hechtman joined Great Day Tampa Bay to discuss The PreTRM. The PreTRM is a first-of-its-kind that validated prenatal blood test drawn during the 19th or 20th week of pregnancy that determines an asymptomatic woman's individualized risk for delivering her baby prematurely. This test is intended for women with singleton pregnancies (carrying one child); this translates to roughly 3.8 million women in the U.S. per year.
