St. Petersburg, Fl - This is the last day for Ribfest in St. Pete's Vinoy Park. You can eat your way through more than a dozen different rib vendors, grab some beers and then digest it all while listening to music. Today is Country music day with Clare Dunn, Parmalee, and Chris Young. And if you've got kids--Ribfest has a great Family Fun Zone.
The Greater Pinellas Country Fair is also going on. It runs from noon to 8:00 p.m. today at England Brothers Park. There are rides, music, and performances by Hermann's Royal Lipizzan Stallions.
The Foundation for Early Learning is holding a fun CARnival for kids. The emphasis is on “CAR” because families will get to explore the Cook Family's Antique and Classic Car Museum at Component General, 2445 Success Drive, Odessa. There will be some carnival games and food too. This is a free event, but donations will provide scholarships to families in need of quality child care.
If you're in the mood for holiday shopping, the Junior League of Tampa's Holiday Gift Market is going on at the Florida State Fairgrounds. With some 150 merchants, you’ll find all sorts of unique items there. And the market helps support all the good work that the Junior League does in the community year around.
In Sarasota County, they're holding a big party to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Phillippi Estate Park. The Edson Keith Mansion was built there in 1916. Today's free events include music and clowns.
Also in Sarasota on Siesta Beach, there’s the Crystal Classic. That's where you can see masterpieces created by some of the world's best sand sculptors. And there's more than just sand--there are live music and a shopping village too.
And from sand to the ocean, it’s the last day of the Blue Ocean Film Festival in St. Pete. Films and talks go on throughout the day and include a showing of Dispatches from the Gulf. This documentary takes a look at the Deepwater Horizon spill and features some scientists from USF. And then at 7:00 p.m. the festival wraps up with a special free screening of the Best of Festival Winner in Straub Park.
