WSJ: President-elect Trump open to retaining parts of Obamacare

One of President-elect Donald Trump’s key campaign pledges was to “repeal and replace” the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, but he told the Wall Street Journal that he would consider leaving parts of it in place.

Trump said he was open to keeping provisions of the legislation intact, such as prohibiting insurers from denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions and allowing older children to stay on their parents’ policies.

Trump cited his talk Thursday with President Obama at the White House as the reason for his shift in medical insurance policy. Obama mentioned specific parts of the act that he considered worth retaining.

“I told him I will look at his suggestions, and out of respect, I will do that,” the Journal quoted Trump.
