  • Palmetto, Florida -- It's no coincidence that a man who lost his family in a car crash would create a program to help keep our children safe.

Bruce Murakami created TRACK which stands for Teaching Road Awareness and Consequences to Kids.  Once a month, kids take to the track at Andersen RacePark on go-karts for a lesson in better driving.  They wear goggles to simulate distracted or drunking driving.

Murakami knows what can happen when young drivers aren't safe.  In 1998, he lost his wife and daughter to a teenaged street racer.

"Both kids and adults think it can't happen to them," said Murakami.  "I want to tell you it can. For me, having lost my wife and daughter become some kid made a bad choice, I don't want another family to go through what I've gone through."

The next TRACK event is scheduled for April 17th at Andersen RacePark.  If you'd like to register, click on this link.
