Tampa, Florida -- The 10 News Investigators have learned the State Ethics Commission is going to look into allegations against State Senator Jim Norman and his relationship with a political contributor and influence peddler.
This comes after the FBI reported last week it was going to close its investigation into Norman. The FBI concluded the state senator did not do anything criminal when he was a Hillsborough commissioner.
However, a letter from the State Ethics Commission means Norman is not out of the clear yet.
The State Commission on Ethics has scheduled a probable cause hearing for Friday, February 3rd in Tallahassee.
Initially, Norman said he wasn't aware of the transaction involving his wife's purchase of a house in Arkansas and that's why he didn't declare it on his financial disclosure form. After pressure mounted, Norman changed the form but insisted the money was only a loan.
The 10 News Investigators tried reaching out to Norman today to ask him about the ethics hearing, but neither he nor his attorney returned our calls.
