TAMPA BAY, Fla. - Lightning owner Jeffrey Vinik is moving forward with his plan to buy Channelside Bay Plaza. As 10 News first reported Friday, the mega-millionare had the winning bid for the venue, which has been in foreclosure since 2010. 

After receiving the news late last week, representatives from Vinik's group took off for Las Vegas, where they are attending the International Council of Shopping Centers national conference. 

Through a spokesman, Vinik declined comment on his plans Monday, but emails obtained by 10 News indicate the group is hoping to unveil its plans for the plaza on June 15th. Vinik's purchase is contingent upon approval from the Tampa Port Authority, which meets that day.
