TAMPA BAY, Fla. - In an email to the Tampa Port Authority, the group looking to buy Channelside Bay Plaza, lead by Lightning owner Jeffrey Vinik, revealed its entire team.
As first reported by 10 News, the well-financed Vinik had the top bid for the venue, which has been in foreclosure since 2010. After receiving the news on May 18, representatives from his group took off for Las Vegas, where they attended the national conference for the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Vinik has declined comment so far on his plans, but emails obtained by 10 News indicate the group is hoping to unveil its plans for the plaza on June 19. Vinik's purchase is contingent upon approval from the Tampa Port Authority, which meets that day.
