Think traffic in the Bay area can't get any worse? Drivers were freaked out when they saw hundreds of snakes on Palmer Boulevard in Sarasota on Tuesday morning.
The nonvenomous banded water snakes, which were in the east and westbound lanes, were chilly so they crawled onto the blacktop road to warm up, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's personnel responded to the snake invasion on Palmer near Apex Road where several of the snakes had already been run over. County workers cleared the road.
