Rays fashion show benefits children

St. Petersburg, Florida – Next week you can see some smooth moves by Rays players, but they won't be on the field. They'll be strutting their stuff at a fashion show.

On Wednesday, June 25, Rays players, along with wives and girlfriends, will be taking part in Rays on the Runway. The fashion show at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort benefits the Children's Dream Fund, a group that grants dreams to seriously ill children.

"We get to walk with Children's Dream Fund children and they love it and we love it; it's an exciting event," says Brittany Svendgard, who will walk with her boyfriend Rays outfielder Matt Joyce.

Natalie Crest, girlfriend of Rays pitcher Jeremy Hellickson, says it's a wonderful experience meeting the kids.

"All the children are so amazing. They just light up your day," she says.

Besides the fashion show featuring clothes by Tommy Bahama and Penelope T Boutique, the event includes a meet-and-greet with the players and a silent auction.
