Mom Choked Her Infant Daughter, Threw Her Against Wall, Deputies Say

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies are charging a mother who they say violently assaulted her infant daughter.

Officers say around 12:30 p.m. Saturday they were called to a home on Wilcox Road for a report of an assault.

According to deputies, 20-year-old Jacklyn Sellers hit her five-month-old little girl in the face, choked her, then threw the baby against the wall.

A family member was able to get the baby away from the mom and called deputies. Officers say Sellers then grabbed a knife and hurt herself.

Both Sellers and the baby were taken to the hospital. The little girl suffered serious injuries, and is now in emergency protective custody.

Sellers is also receiving treatment, but when she's released, officers say they'll charge her with attempted murder.
