TAMPA, Fla. -- Starting Saturday, drivers on the Veterans Expressway will have an extra lane to drive in.
But once you get in that extra lane, you’re staying in that extra lane for roughly six miles, reports the Tampa Bay Times.
The extra lane goes from Gunn Highway to Hillsborough Avenue. Plastic poles will separate the main lanes from the extra lane.
If you’re traveling northbound, you’ll get on at Hillsborough with the first available exit at Gun Highway. If you’re traveling southbound, you get on at Gunn Highway with the first available exit at State Road 60.
Construction on a stretch of the extra lane from Gunn to the Dale Mabry Highway is expected to be completed in the spring. If you want to take that lane, there will be an additional toll on top of what you’re already paying to drive on the Veterans Expressway.
The additional toll will be based on congestion pricing.
