TAMPA, Fla. (WTSP) – Holiday shoppers eager to cross items off lists for loved ones, or even themselves will find no shortage of deals to indulge in on Cyber Monday.
According to the National Retail Federation, more than 122 million Americans will take part in the shopping experience, largely recognized as one of the biggest online shopping days of the year.
When it comes to deals, shopping experts say this year’s Cyber Monday is particularly good for your wardrobe, with many clothing retailers offering online deals of 50 percent off and more.
“I always look at Cyber Monday as an opportunity to take advantage of their store-wide discounts. The branded clothing stores might have up to fifty percent off clothes. So of those are on your gift list, this is a great time to take advantage of that,” said Brent Shelton, an online shopping expert at Fatwallet.com.
As of 7:30 a.m. Monday, Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic were all offering 50 percent off all items site-wide.
Department stores are also offering additional discounts; Macy’s has an additional 20 percent off coupon, free shipping for purchases more than $25, as well as specials that run all week.
It’s an example of a growing “cyberweek” trend. On top of Cyber Monday flight and hotel discounts, Southwest Airlines is offering deals that run throughout the week if you use the code CYBERWK16.
Other airlines like Alaska Airlines and travel companies like Expedia have specials as well. Expedia is giving 90 percent off select hotels when shoppers use the Expedia app. The company also has hourly promotions on the hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With holiday shopping deals starting to roll on Grey Thursday, peaking on Black Friday and running through and after Cyber Monday, it seems the holiday shopping frenzy gets longer each year with retailers offering more promotions to entice shoppers to spend more in stores and online.
“Black Friday’s more than just one day now. We’re seeing Black Friday deals as early as the beginning of the month of November,” said Ana Serafin Smith of the National Retail Federation. “Retailers are doing this because they want to continue engagement with consumers outside of one day.”
