WELLSTON, Okla. -- Two law enforcement officers were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries early Monday morning after they were shot responding to a call in Lincoln County.
CBS affiliate KWTV News 9 reported police later found two bodies at a home in nearby Oklahoma County, believed to be victims of the same suspect – a man identified as Michael Dale Vance Jr., who remained at large and the subject of a manhunt.
Police said the suspect fired at the two Wellston officers about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, hitting one officer in the foot and the other in the leg.
Officials said Vance stole a vehicle, drove it to a trailer park and then stole another vehicle from a woman, whom he also shot and wounded.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation were helping with the search and case.
Police did not immediately identify the two people found slain in Oklahoma County, but local media reports suggested they were related to Vance.
Residents were warned that Vance should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.
