2 Subways closed for health violations

Two Tampa Subways shut down back-to-back

Restaurant Red Alert: Double trouble!

Two Bay area Subway locations were shut down for failing health inspections. One restaurant is near the intersection of South Dale Mabry Highway and Henderson Boulevard, and the other on East Adamo Drive near the Port of Tampa.

10Investigates Beau Zimmer works to find out if the kitchens are cleaned up in tonight's Restaurant Red Alert.

Subway restaurants are known for operating clean kitchens, which is why we are so surprised to see two Subway locations shut down on back to back weeks.

We stopped into the East Adamo Drive location shut down on Tuesday with 22 violations: An employee failing to wash their hands, live roaches around the bread warmer and potato chip racks, along with right near the cookie display.

The inspector also uncovering dozens of rodent droppings behind the bread warmer and under the dry storage shelves.

One regular customer was shocked to hear about the state's findings.

Both locations have since been cleared by the state to reopen.
