Arrest made after dog is beaten, shoved in suitcase

HOLLYWOOD, FLA. - More than a month after a pit bull was found beaten and stuffed in a suitcase, authorities have arrested the man who they say fatally injured the dog.

Hollywood police arrested 31-year-old Brenden Evans with aggravated animal cruelty after DNA linked him to the suitcase where Ollie was found with stab wounds on his head and body.

In a statement released on Facebook, HPD Acting Police Chief Chris O'Brien called the case "heartbreaking."

“We were all pulling for Ollie to survive, but unfortunately he didn't make it. However, due to our investigation, we are now able to provide justice for Ollie,” said Acting Police Chief Chris O'Brien.
