Arrest made in fatal Tampa hit-and-run

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa police have arrested a woman suspected in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian on W. Kennedy Blvd.

Danielle Goeller, 26, was allegedly driving eastbound on W. Kennedy at S. Tampania Ave. when she struck a pedestrian who had stepped into the roadway. Authorities say Goeller slowed down, then sped away from the scene.

The pedestrian, 60-year-old Philip Barrett, died at the scene from his injuries.

A security guard later reported a damaged Volvo in a parking garage on Harbour Island Blvd., according to Tampa police, and investigators determined it was the vehicle involved in the crash.

Goeller was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash with death. She was taken to the Orient Road Jail.
