Clearwater, Florida - It was a horrific accident on U.S. 19 near Curlew that killed two people Tuesday. It happened a little after two in the afternoon, but it still had rush hour traffic clogged in Pinellas County for hours. Witnesses say the accident started when two vehicles, a GMC and a Silverado collided as they were going southbound. The Silverado became airborne and flew into a Ford Van that was headed northbound. The impact of the accident sheared the roof off the van. The drivers of the Silverado and the Van were killed at impact. Five others involved in the accident, 4 adults and one child, were transported to the Hospital. Mike Ball owns a bar across from the accident scene. He saw it happen. Mike Ball: "The cars went bam, bam, bam as they hit each other. It was scary , like something out of the movies." Northbound traffic was diverted off of U.S. onto other northbound routes, and that made those roads including Belcher and McMullen clogged with rush hour traffic as well.
