I was born in New London, WI which is also the birthplace of Hillshire Farms. I graduated High School in Milwaukee before attending and graduating from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
My first job after college was as a radio reporter in Ottumwa, Iowa, followed by a stint back in Madison, WI. I made the jump to TV when I joined the staff at WGBA NBC 26 in Green Bay. After that I moved to Milwaukee to work at WITI FOX 6 before joining the staff at WTSP 10 News in 2002.
Since joining 10 News I have been fortunate to win a number of awards,
thanks in part to the wonderful photojournalists I work with. I've been
honored with 24 Emmy awards and more than 40 Emmy nominations. I've
received 6 Edward R. Murrow awards, a host of Associated Press and
Society of Professional Journalists awards, plus I'm a past National
Press Photographers Association national reporter of the year finalist.
I've also been given the Individual Achievement award by the Associated
Press for the best large market television reporter in Florida.
My hobbies include running, traveling and I'm attempting to better my skills in the kitchen. But honestly, that's not going so well.
I am a BIG sports fan. I love the Packers, Badgers, USF Bulls and #20 in NASCAR.
Despite the summer rains and potential of hurricanes, I love the weather
in Florida. It's the only place I know where there are times when it
rains and you still have to wear sunglasses.
If you have a second, here are a few of my favorite stories from my time at 10 News. I hope you enjoy them.
