The US Championship gold medalists, Caydee Denney of Wesley Chapel and Jeremy Barrett of Sarasota, came in 14th in Sunday's short program in Vancouver.

The silver medalists, Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig, did even better, finishing 10th in the short program.  Pairs from China, Germany, and Russia were 1-2-3, heading into Monday's free skate.

"I think it's awesome," said Mark Brewer, whose daughter skates at Ellenton.  "It's an incredible experience.  They're really really great guys, and they love the kids.  It would be great to see them do really well."
