GLADES COUNTY, Fla. -- A local bail bondsman was killed on the job, allegedly gunned down by the suspect he was searching for.

Gordon Suleiman owned a bail bond company in Okeechobee. He was also a bounty hunter. He was searching for Lewis Koty, a man with an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Police say Koty shot Suleiman in a wooded part of Glades County on Sunday.

Suleiman's daughter says he died doing what he loved.

"He was shot in the chest. From what I heard, it went straight to his heart," said Jamie Suleiman. "It's not my father's fault for what he did. He didn't have to take his life."

Jamie Suleiman says her father usually wore a bullet-proof vest on the job, but didn't that day.

Police arrested Lewis. He's being held without bond in Glades County.
