St. Petersburg, FL-- 5-year-old Abi Pounders, a kindergartener from Palm Harbor, had a day she and her family will never forget. Abi was the 10 News Kid Reporter at Tropicana Field on Sunday afternoon.
Abi and 10 News Sports Anchor Dave Wirth were on the field before the Rays' game with the Cleveland Indians. Thanks to help from the Rays' Media Relations Department, Abi interviewed three Rays - Kyle Farnsworth, David Price, and Brandon Gomes. She really liked seeing the Rays' dugout, and was really impressed by all the bubble gum that's available to the players.
Abi asked David Price what kinds of healthy foods he ate. "I like salads, they're healthy," said David. "And I like Rice Krispy treats. I think they're pretty healthy, too."
After the interviews, Abi stuck around to see Dave Wirth throw out the ceremonial first pitch. He threw a low strike to Rays' pitcher Cesar Ramos. It obviously established some karma, because Ramos pitched the 9th inning of the 7-0 win over the Indians, preserving the victory.
Abi was chosen from applicants on Momslikeme.com.
