Port Richey State Representative John Legg says there are some really strong indications of mismanagement and questionable dealings. That's the reaction Legg had after our stories last week. He says, "We have a board of directors there, their terms are gone, and it's time a new board stepped in and exercised new oversight."
That's why Legg sent Governor Rick Scott a letter saying the Housing Authority has deviated from its mission and the entire board needs to be replaced. According to Legg," You need new people on this board to have fresh eyes, a fresh look, and fresh energy to hold people accountable."
What may be the most surprising thing is while Legg says he felt compelled to send the letter to the governor demanding a change, he also told us he was not surprised by the allegations we uncovered at the Pasco Housing Authority.
Legg says, "We've seen some questionable things with the Housing Authority for years."
As we reported last week, U.S. Representative Richard Nugent (R) Brooksville is calling for on the FBI, the Justice Department, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Inspector General to investigate the agency.
Now because of those who came forth, elected officials are working to turn the Housing Authority around and hold those responsible accountable.
