It's a debate nearly every parent goes through: the spanking debate.

The issue was brought up after a recent Tallahassee ruling that a single spank does not qualify as domestic violence. This came after a recent case where a father spanked his 14-year-old on the buttocks with his hand, and his wife accused him of abuse. The father said the teen had been disrespectful and defiant. The teen said she was being sarcastic.

So we brought in a panel to discuss the issue.

According to a recent study:

Preschool children (2-4): 9 in 10 are spanked an average 16 times per year. 7 in 10 are spanked on the bottom by hand, 2 in 10 are spanked on the bottom with an object.

Younger primary school children (5-8): 8 in 10 are spanked an average of 15 times per year. 7 in 10 are spanked on the bottom by hand, 3 in 10 are spanked on the bottom with an object.

Teenage children (13-17 year): 3 in 10 are spanked an average of 6 times per year. 1 in 6 are spanked on the bottom by hand, 1 in 6 are spanked on the bottom with an object.

You can leave your comments on the issue on our Facebook page.
