A clerk tricked and detained an intoxicated woman who tried to rob a Kangaroo Express using a plastic toy gun this morning in Palm Bay, reports show.

Just before 6 a.m., Wilnelia Rivera Caraballo, 19, walked into the gas station wearing a clear plastic mask and holding an Uzi-like gun at Emerson Drive Southeast and Waco Boulevard Southeast, said Yvonne Martinez, police spokeswoman.

One clerk was working in the office and a second clerk was stocking a cooler. After Caraballo walked behind the counter, the cooler-stocking clerk yelled, "Palm Bay police! Get on the ground!" Martinez said.

Caraballo complied - and the clerk grabbed and detained her until police arrived, reports show.

She was charged with attempted armed robbery and taken to the Brevard County Jail Complex.
