ORLANDO, Florida (WKMG) -- Orlando police have arrested a man who posted a video on YouTube that shows him disciplining a 7-year-old boy.
Devery Broox, 25, who was charged with child abuse, said he was disciplining the boy for acting up in school.
"And after I finish whipping your (expletive), we are going to go back outside and you're going to work out like you just came out of boot camp, alright?" Broox can be heard saying to the boy in the video.
In the video, you can see Broox shaving the boy's head.
"So this is what's about to happen. Your hair's gone. What was that? 'Cause I was about to take your eyebrows, too," Broox says.
What happened next is what caught the attention of police, though. Broox can be seen taking the boy off camera carrying a belt and the boy can be heard screaming.
The child re-emerges in the video outside, running sprints and being ordered to perform pushups.
At the beginning of the video, Broox posts statistics about how one in three black men are expected to end up in prison in an apparent attempt to justify disciplining the child.
The Florida's Department of Children and Families said civil rights groups were right to tip off police about the video.
"We see so much stuff on the Internet. A lot of it is junk. A lot of it is humor and staged, but this wasn't, and I think these people are to be commended for their outreach to make sure this child is OK," Carrie Hoeppner of DCF said.
