Tampa, Florida -- Marines and letter carriers are hoping to fill a South Tampa warehouse with toys for Bay Area kids through Saturday's Toys for Tots drive.
Helping kids in Tampa Bay have a great Christmas couldn't be simpler.
On Saturday, December 3rd, leave a new, unwrapped toy (or leave several toys!) next to your mailbox.
Letter carriers in Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco, Hernando, and Manatee counties will collect the toys and hand them over to Toys for Tots.
Hillsborough County's toys will be taken by volunteers to a warehouse used by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
There, more volunteers will sort the toys and prepare them for families who apply for holiday help through local groups or the Toys for Tots website.
Girls' toys are needed most, particulary for girls aged 6 to 12. Toddler toys are also in high demand.
The National Association of Letter Carriers has sponsored holiday drives for decades, and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve has organized Toys for Tots since the 1940's.
