Bushnell, Florida - Inmates and staff at the Sumter Correctional Institution are dealing with an outbreak of the flu.

Officials have canceled all visitation until the the virus runs its course.

Officials say over 30 inmates are being treated for symptoms of the flu.

The decision to temporarily halt visitation has upset some families who tried to visit their jailed loved ones over the Christmas holiday.

DOC officials say they made the decision to try and stem the spread of the sickness.

Officials won't speculate on when the visitation ban would be lifted.
