INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. -- Pinellas County sheriff's deputies are investigating a boating accident that injured two men early on Saturday.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, a 28-foot boat crashed into a dock and seawall in the Inter-Coastal Waterway behind the residences at 526 and 536 20th Ave. North in Indian Rocks Beach. The boat's owner, 65-year-old Richard Bosman, told deputies he was reaching down to pick up a cup of coffee when the distraction cause him to crash into the dock.

Deputies say the impact caused Bosman to hit the throttle fully open as he was ejected from the boat into the water. His passenger, 65-year-old Samuel Roback, tried reaching for the engine's kill switch when the vessel circled out of control and struck the seawall.

Bosman was transported to Morton Plant Hospital with possible injuries to his left knee and right shoulder. Roback was pulled from the boat and also taken to the hospital with possible injuries to his lower left leg and torso.

None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.

Deputies say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
