Seminole, Florida - A fire took the lives of two women Thursday night in the Twin Oaks Condominiums on 102nd Avenue North.
A 97-year-old woman and her disabled 72-year-old daughter lived together at the time. Fire department officials said the mother was found dead inside unit 143, and her daughter was pronounced dead at Largo Medical Center.
Their names have not been disclosed, pending notification of next of kin.
The fire department said the call came in at 6:03 p.m. from a neighbor who saw heavy smoke coming from the condo. The first unit arrived minutes later to find the condo engulfed in smoke and flames.
The cause of the fire is not known. The City Fire Marshal was waiting for smoke conditions to clear before entering the unit. The state Fire Marshal was also called to the scene.
Also investigating the incident are the Pinellas County Homicide Unit and Arson Unit.
Officials said the fire was reported by a neighbor, who called 911 to report seeing heavy smoke coming from the unit.
