ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Several YouTube videos show fist fights and all-out brawls outside Scene Premium Night Club in downtown St. Pete. Police quickly show up when violence breaks out, but city leaders are tired of having to deal with the problems in the first place.

On Wednesday morning around 2 a.m., a gunman shot two men inside the club: 23-year-old Deonte Archer and 22-year-old Kendric Stephens.
St. Pete Police later found out employees said they were told by club management not to wand people entering the bar with a metal detector. That could've made it very easy for the shooter to bring the gun inside.
Since Scene Premium Night Club opened just 18 months ago, police have responded to more than 500 calls to the bar.
Neighbors like Paul Lanz say this shooting is exactly why he's had enough. "I'm moving. I'm getting out of downtown. Something needs to be done."
Mayor Bill Foster agrees, "Once you get a bad reputation, people can go somewhere else, and we can't let that happen."
Foster already has an ordinance in the works to require that clubs hire off-duty police for big events like the popular and sometimes violent Tuesday nights at Scene.
10 News couldn't reach club management for comment and the City of St. Petersburg says they've had trouble communicating with club owners as well.
One of the owners of Scene is a 10 News contributor, Bubba "The Love Sponge" Clem. He, too, didn't have a comment about the on-going violence.
Mayor Foster says it could be as early as Thursday that a city committee begins reviewing the ordinance to require off-duty police at big events. He wants the change to be in effect within a month. "We want the businesses to make money," Foster says. "But it can't come at a tremendous cost of personal safety or cost to the taxpayers."
