Tampa, Florida -- It doesn't take long to figure out Heidi Damon isn't your average woman. The 41-year-old is smart, beautiful and has one heck of a story to tell.
Two years ago she was seconds from death after being attacked in an Ybor garage. Her 16-year-old attacker choked her until she had a seizure and passed out. Damon believes she is alive today, because her attacker likely thought she was dead.
Not only is Damon very much alive, but last December she had the last word in court when Javon Cooper was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison and 10 years probation.
It was the impact statement heard around the world. Damon not only confronted her attacker, but identified herself because she said she didn't want to feel ashamed anymore.

Today, Damon is on a mission to help others who have been assaulted. She wants them to know they shouldn't hide or be ashamed, rather it's the attackers who should hang their heads.
