Cape Coral police had to Taser a dog after it attacked a 58-year-old woman on Southeast 34th Street, according to a police report.
The woman was bitten on the arm and fell, causing a compound fracture, according to police. She was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
The officer who responded noticed a dog barking nearby, intimidating a man and his daughter as they got into their car. After distracting the dog, it ran toward the officer, growling. As it jumped to attack, the officer Tasered the animal, causing it to fall to the ground for 3 to 4 minutes before running away.
The owner eventually caught the dog and signed it over to Lee County Animal Control to be euthanized.
