ESSEX COUNTY, NJ (CBS) - Six-year-old Anna Krentcil has fair skin, light eyes and red hair. She's not your typical candidate for long-term sun exposure. So when she told the nurse at her Essex County, New Jersey school that her sunburn came from "going tanning with mommy," her mom was arrested.
"I find nothing wrong with tanning. To each his own. I like to tan," Patricia Krentcil told CBS. But Krentcil says her daughter only comes into the room with her when she tans, never into the booth.
"There's no room, A. B, I wouldn't permit it. C, it never happened."

Krentcil says Anna's sunburn came from playing outside with sunblock on. Even so, she was arrested on April 24th, a week after the alleged incident, and charged with Second Degree Child Endangerment.
Krentcil says that when her daughter is of age, tanning will be her decision.
"That will be her choice when she's older and legal to go into a tanning booth. She does not go tanning now, end of story."
New Jersey state law prohibits tanning for anyone under 14, and under 18 without parental consent.
The tanning salon's practices are now part of the police investigation.
