Clearwater, Florida -- The owner of Shephard's Beach Resort says the South Dakota delegates staying at the hotel for the Republican National Convention shouldn't worry about wild parties with 2-story tall beer bongs, loud music playing until early morning hours and women grinding on the dance floor.

Gerri Shephard, one of the hotel's owners tells 10 News parties like that "don't go on 365 days a year." She added, "We do weddings here, corporate functions here... it's not just the girls you see grinding on the dance floor."

When contacted about staying at a hotel known for its parties the head of the South Dakota Republican Party said he felt comfortable with the accommodations after talking with the owners of Shephard's.

"It does have this stigma of being a spring-break kind of hotel, but you know what, it's not March and it won't be filled with 18 to 21-year-olds. It's going to be filled with delegates who are devoted to making sure we elect the next President of the United States," Tony Post said.

Joel Rosenthal, a South Dakota Delegate and veteran of four conventions noted that type of atmosphere would not be welcome.

"There's a lot of people who want to have good access to restaurants and bars and music but I wouldn't like to see a Spring Break type atmosphere. It won't be a lot of drinking and dancing on the beach," he said.

The Republican National Convention is scheduled for the week of August 27^th.
