VENICE, Fla. - A missing scuba diver whose rescue was caught on tape has died.
Venice police say 63-year-old Gerald Green of Punta Gorda was diving for sharks teeth with his son, Jeremy, when his son says his father didn't resurface. Jeremy reported him missing around 2:30 Saturday afternoon.
Gerald had been underwater for about 90 minutes near the beachfront restaurant, Sharky's on the Pier, when about 125 to 150 feet from shore in 8 feet of water rescuers found him.
He later died at the hospital.
Gerald Green's wife says her husband had three decades of experience and was doing something he loved when he died.
