Lake Wales, Florida - The plane that was once owned by the lawyer for Casey Anthony and involved in a 2011 Anthony hoax was the same plane that crashed and killed the six people on board Thursday afternoon.
Records show the plane, a Pilatus PC-12 turboprop, single-engine plane with tail #N950KA, was once owned by former Anthony lawyer Todd Macaluso and was part of a hoax in the summer of 2011, with a Anthony look-a-like running from the plane at Orlando Executive Airport. Anthony had just been acquitted of the murder of her daughter, Caylee Anthony. The plane was sold just three months ago.The same plane was used to whisk Casey Anthony out of the state last year one hour after her release from jail.
10 News spoke to Macaluso Thursday night. He tells us the plane had a clean bill of health when it was sold three months ago and had an excellent history during the three years he owned it. Macaluso is a trial attorney that represents families of airline crash victims and used the plane for his company and to fly his own family on vacations.
Polk County fire officials said the crash happened about 1 p.m. near Walk in Water Road, which is located by David's Wines Airstrip Airport in the Tiger Creek Preserve. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
