Plant City, Florida -- A man is in police custody after he dragged an officer pinned to his Corvette while fleeing a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Plant City Police say the officer pulled over Kevin Dubose's 2001 Corvette just after 1 a.m. near the entrance of Walden Lake East along South Alexander Street while responding to a domestic disturbance.

The officer noticed Dubose, 33, appeared to be intoxicated and instead of answering her questions, he tried to take off. As he was pulling away, the officer reached through the window to turn the car off. Dubose then grabbed her arm, pinning it to the steering wheel and sped away. Police say she was dragged about 10 feet before she broke away.

The officer pursued Dubose for less than a quarter mile before he lost control of the Corvette and overturned, rolling several times, before coming to a rest east of YMCA Place. The officer says Dubose continued to resist arrest while being taken into custody.

He is currently being treated for injuries he received in the crash and has been charged with Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Fleeing to Elude and Possession of Marijuana under 20 grams.

The officer involved in the incident was not injured.
