TAMPA BAY, Florida -- Guns. Some people love them, some hate them. But if the National Rifle Association has its way, Florida will be seeing a lot more of them -- literally.

The NRA is pushing for the Florida Legislature to pass an open carry law in 2013. Florida was an open carry state until 1987, but switched to concealed carry to discourage crime.

This time around, it promises to be a very divisive political issue.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gaultieri is running for re-election and supports 2nd Amendment rights, but opposes the open carry law.

His challenger, Everett Rice, received the endorsement of the NRA, but says people misunderstand the open carry concept, and doesn't support it as it stands.
