Clearwater, Florida -- A Clearwater neighborhood was left with quite a mess after a driver crashed into two homes and a mailbox Saturday afternoon.
Clearwater Police say 34-year-old Michael L Richardson was driving west in the 1600 block of Bellrose Drive North when he lost control of his black 2000 Honda Passport and crashed into the southwest corner of the home at 1650 Bellrose Drive North.
Richardson then backed up across the driveway and grass lawn and headed east on Bellrose Drive North. He was unable to control the vehicle and drove over the south curb into other yards and crashed into the mailbox of 1657 Bellrose Drive North.
He then continued east in reverse and crossed the north curb over the lawn at 1668 Bellrose Drive North before he crashed into the southeast portion of the home and came to a rest on top on the concrete garden in an unoccupied bedroom.
Richardson was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
Police estimate $15,200 of property damaged occurred in addition to substantial damage to the vehicle.
