This Sunday, begins a 3-week tour de NFC East, one of the toughest divisions in the NFL... after that stretch, the Bucs have their bye week and they'll need it. How they come out of those 3 games will determine what we'll see the rest of the season.
The brightest light we saw in the win over the Panthers, was the defense, specifically, the rush defense. But now, they have to contain Eli Manning, the key to the Giants' offense. Yes, they have to stop the run, that's every game... but pressure on Manning is imperative. If he has time, he can win Super Bowls.
Hard to believe, but Eli is in his 9th season already and he's durable -- Hasn't missed a start in 8 seasons. He deserves more credit than he gets. He's the key to the Bucs' defense in this one.
On the other side of the ball, the Bucs need to show some more punch. They didn't have much of a second half against the Panthers... keep the chains moving. LeGarrette Blount should be healthy, but can he contribute?
I'm not sure Doug Martin is the every-down back. He'll need help, and Blount could be perfect for that, if he can embrace that role. LeGarrette may be having some issues accepting the backup role, I'm not sure.
And remember, the Giants have been thinking about that opening week loss for the last 10 days... they're not in a good mood.
I'm Dave Wirth, and I'll see you at the game.
