St. Petersburg, Florida -- Officers have arrested Sharon Byrd who was wanted in connection with a stabbing incident Tuesday morning at the Osprey Point Apartments.
St. Pete Police say Sharon, 46, called police around 1 p.m. from a lawyer's office in the 1300 block of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street North and told them she wanted to turn herself in. She was arrested without incident and she is now being interviewed by detectives.
St. Pete Police say based on their investigation up to this point, 44-year-old Russell Byrd and Sharon Byrd a.k.a. Sharon Denise Lee -- who police believe is his wife -- got in an alcohol-related argument that stemmed from him talking to another woman over the phone, who turned out to be his sister.
During the argument, a friend of the couple told police Sharon went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife and threatened to kill Russell just before she stabbed him in the chest. The friend called police and Sharon fled before officers arrived.
By the time officers arrived, Russell was unresponsive with injuries to his upper body. Rescue workers pronounced him dead at 2:06 a.m.
