At about 1:30 on Monday afternoon, the driver, traveling in the area of Beltsville, thought he heard a meow from the car as he drove down the road.

He pulled into the parking lot of Absolute Kitchen in Betltsville at Baltimore Ave. and Ewing Rd  and called the fire dept. Firefighters from the Beltsville Fire/EMS Station 831 responded and searched around under the hood.

Eventually they coaxed the frightened three-week-old kitten out of a hard-to-access area of the car. It took firefighters about 45 minutes of effort to free the scared kitten.

The kitten appeared to be in good shape. It has been adopted by one of the firefighters, who took it back to the firehouse.
