Cops: 'Customer' tries on engagement rings, leaves store

Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough deputies currently search for the woman who tried on an engagement ring set in a local jewelry store, and then bolted without returning it.

It was just before 3 p.m. on September 23 when deputies say a woman posed as a customer at the Zales in Brandon Town Center. 

She reportedly asked to see a gold engagement ring set, valued at $1,739, and then ran out of the store with it in her possession. 

Officials describe her as 18 to 21 years of age, Hispanic or Black with a light complexion, 5'0"-5'5" with a thin build, black hair and a red patch on the right side.

She also reportedly has a bright colored tattoo on upper left arm, and was last seen wearing a black tank top and jeans with rips in the knees.

Deputies ask anyone with any information reference the suspect to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
