HEBRON, CT (WFSB) - An 80-year-old Connecticut woman will appear in Rockville Superior Court next week after she was charged with removing three lawn signs that depict President Barack Obama with a Hitler-style mustache.
The police said the woman was violating First Amendment rights of a political action committee, which the signs belonged to.
"They tried to hold onto the posters. I won," said Nancy Lack, who was charged with sixth-degree larceny. "I took them. I put them in my car. It just made me so angry that they would distort Obama like that."
Lack lived through World War II; however, when she saw the signs last week outside of the Hebron Post Office on Route 66, she was horrified.
"I was very mad," Lack said. "I saw the mustache and I went to the gym and tried to cool off a little bit."
The Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee, who had put out the signs, filed a complaint with state police after getting Lack's license plate number.
On Wednesday, members were promoting an upcoming live webcast at the Andover Post Office. They could not comment about Lack's arrest, but did release a statement.
"Barack Obama is a puppet of the British Empire and is threatening thermal nuclear war in order to impose a global financial dictatorship," said Angela Vullo of LaRouche Political Action Committee.
Once she learned about the warrant for her arrest, she turned herself into state police and plans to represent herself in court.
"It just infuriated me that they would put such a hateful image onto him," Lack said.
If convicted, Lack could face up to three months in jail and pay up to $500 fine.
