Brooksville, Florida -- A drunk woman who caused a car to crash into a tree was arrested by Brooksville Police officers while she was parked in the bus loop at Hernando High School Friday.
Police say 62-year-old Patricia Eppley was heading north on Broad Street near Mt. Fair Avenue when she crossed the center line and hit a car heading south. The impact caused the car to lose control and travel off the road into a wooded area and hit a tree. A witness followed Eppley to Hernando High School, where officers also received calls of a car driving recklessly with something dragging from the front of the car.
An officer found the car in the bus loop and found Eppley inside smelling of booze. Officers report Eppley failed several field sobriety tests. She was arrested and charged with DUI with property damage and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
Two breathalyzers revealed her blood alcohol content was .062 and .061 at the time of her arrest. A urine sample was also taken for analysis. Eppley was held at Hernando County Jail at $750 bond.
There was no information released on if the other driver was injured or not.
