Bartow, Florida -- A woman was hospitalized Thursday morning after she told police her ex-boyfriend beat her with a baseball bat.
Officers responded to a home in the 600 Block of Formosa Avenue regarding a battery in progress. When they got there, they say the woman was badly beaten, but was alert enough to tell them her attacker was her ex-boyfriend, 39-year-old Thomas Baldridge.
Investigators say Baldridge broke into her home just before 7:30 this morning and argued with her about ending their relationship.
During the argument, they say he grabbed an aluminum baseball and started chasing her. When he came at her, she covered her head and stomach to protect herself, but was hit several times on her arms and legs.
After the alleged attack, deputies say Baldridge grabbed the keys to her vehicle and took off. Police found him around 12:30 this afternoon and he was arrested. He has been charged with Armed Burglary with Battery, Aggravated Battery, Burglary of a Vehicle and Grand Theft of a Vehicle.
The woman suffered multiple fractures to her arms in the attack.
The victim's vehicle was also recovered as a result of the arrest.
