Palm Harbor, Florida -- The Sunshine Girls of Tarpon Springs are helping to make the lives of rescued animals a lot better.
On Saturday, the Sunshine Girls made up of 12-year-olds Sarah Tinsley and Eleni Lambrianos along with their supportive friends, presented a check to the Suncoast Animal League for $1,503.65. They raised the money at their fourth lemonade and cookie stand on Oct. 27.

"It started as a gifted community service project," said Eleni Lambrianos. "We loved it and we are doing it every single year now."
"We have a stand in Tarpon Springs," added Sarah Tinsley. "And for the entire day we sell lemonade and cookies to whoever drives by and it always ends up with a good turnout."

The folks at the Suncoast Animal League were thrilled with the donation.
"There's people like you out there that step up and assist us," Suncoast Animal League Executive Director Rick Chaboudy told the girls. "We couldn't do this without you guys. You're incredible and it makes us all feel really good."
The check presentation happened at the Animal League's annual Dogtoberfest, which featured an adopt-a-thon and a dog costume contest.
