Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - C.J. McCollum scored a game-high 19 points,
leading five players in double figures, as the Lehigh Mountain Hawks defeated
the Robert Morris Colonials, 89-60, as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the
Petersen Events Center.
Mackey McKnight scored 15 points and handed out seven assists for the Mountain
Hawks (1-1) as they picked up their first victory of the season. Holden
Greiner and Gabe Knutson accounted for 12 points apiece, the former clearing a
team-best seven rebounds, while Stefan Cvrkalj chipped in 11 points off the
bench.
The Colonials (0-2) were paced by Mike McFadden who registered a double-double
with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Vaughn Morgan and Velton
Jones tacked on 12 points apiece, the former adding five blocked shots before
fouling out and the latter handing out seven assists.
Lehigh's bench supplied 11 points in the first half, while the squad posted
nine points off turnovers, en route to a 38-23 advantage at the break.
In the second half Lehigh began to pile on down the stretch, extending the
lead to as many as 32 points, as the team knocked down 60.0 percent from the
floor and held the opposition to only 35.3 percent.
The Mountain Hawks finished the meeting shooting 51.7 percent from the field
and 11-of-24 beyond the arc.
Lehigh will now take on Pittsburgh in the next round of the tournament after
the Panthers defeated Fordham in the first game of the night, 86-51.
