GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A search committee member says a new president for the University of Florida could be chosen in a matter of weeks.
Dianna Morgan told the editorial board of The Gainesville Sun on Thursday it's possible finalists could be brought to campus and a decision made before fall semester ends Dec. 5. But Morgan also says a decision won't be rushed on a new president for the state's flagship public university.
Morgan is one of 23 members of the search committee looking for a successor to current UF President Bernie Machen, who is retiring by the end of next year. The exact date depends on when the next president is chosen.
UF has at least 19 applicants for the job so far.
