Clearwater, Florida -- Since late September, Clearwater Police say there have been 33 home burglaries that appear to be related in the north Greenwood, Old Clearwater Bay and Kings Highway areas.
Police say the burglaries are a mixture of unlocked and smashed window entries and many include a similar method of operation where one suspect will knock on the front door and when no one answers, they will break in to the rear of the home. Most of the break-ins have occurred during the afternoon/early evening hours, although they say times are varied.
"While we have stepped up patrols in the areas, we can't be everywhere all the time. The eyes and ears of the community is a vital component in effective policing. If you see something, please call us when it's happening," said Clearwater Police Chief Anthony Holloway.
Four juveniles have been arrested in connection with four of the residential burglaries. Items taken include jewelry, stereos, televisions, currency and firearms.
However, anyone who sees suspicious subjects or suspicious people should contact police immediately. This increases the chances of immediately apprehending a suspect.
